Local maker community finds new space in Wilkinsburg

December 4, 2017: “Protohaven, the nonprofit formed from members of the shuttered TechShop in East Liberty, has found a new location for its maker space.

The group announced Friday that it has signed a lease for a 3,000-square-foot space on North Trenton Avenue in Wilkinsburg, in an e-mail to its supporters.

Devin Montgomery, co-founder and executive director of Protohaven, said in the e-mail that leaders hoped the space would be open beginning Monday with members’ help.

“We’ll need some help mopping and painting and a million other things,” he wrote. “But if there was one thing I heard in our months of working together on this, it was that everyone wanted a hand in building the new space. This is our chance.” Read More
